Battle of the Comrades: Manahan Edges Romero-Tennis Clash for ZPRAA 2024

In a thrilling Tennis Final match in the Elementary Girls Category during the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA) 2024, Alexa Kate Manahan overcame early setbacks to clinch gold against her division mate and former Palarong Pambansa competitor, Marrian S. Romero, at Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex.

The match showcased resilience and skill, particularly from Manahan, who displayed a remarkable comeback to win the game despite trailing in the early sets. Initially down in scores, Manahan's persistence paid off as she turned the tables in a gripping tiebreak, where traditional scoring was abandoned for a direct point-by-point contest that heightened the stakes of every serve and return.

Romero, a seasoned player with experience at the national level, found herself in a tough battle against Manahan, a rising contender. This year's ZPRAA 2024 final served as a redemption for Manahan and a brilliant display of her growing prowess in the sport.

Both athletes from Zamboanga Del Norte demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and skill, making it a historic match for their division. Their performances have secured their spots at the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, setting the stage for a potentially larger audience and higher stakes.

Manahan's victory is particularly significant as it marks her emergence as a formidable force in the sport, capable of overcoming seasoned players like Romero. As they prepare for the national competition, both players are set to carry the pride of Zamboanga Del Norte onto larger arenas, promising exciting matches and potential medal hauls at the Palarong Pambansa.
