TIE THAT BINDS. The two executives officially signed the Memorandum of Agreement to convert former DepEd Building and area in Zamboanga City to the College of Medicine Campus.

MAY 2, 2024, DEPED RO IX Bldg, Gov.  Center, Balintawak, Pagadian City. A significant step was taken as Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) and Dept. of Education(DEPED) RO IX executives represented by Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena and Dr. Ruth L. Fuentes respectively signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). 

The MOA entails the usufruct for the use of the lot previously occupied by DepEd Regional Office at the Normal Road, Baliwasan, Zambo. City faor the establishment of the WMSU-College of Medicine. 

The establishment for the WMSU-Colege of Medicine is expected to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in the region, particularly doctors. 

As the collaboration between WMSU and DEPED progresses, it is deemed that more opportunities for academic and research partnerships will emerge, further enriching the educational landscape of Zamboanga Peninsula.  

With the MOA now in placed, the commencement of operations will herald a new era of medical education in the peninsula. 

The simple signing of ceremony took place at the DEPED RO IX Bldg., Gov. Center, Balintawak, Pag. City attended by a token group of both parties.
