The Dipolog City football team banged the grounds of Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex when they trampled the Zamboanga del Sur team in the championship match on April 26, 2024 to reclaim their title after a year.
As the early sun set in the east, the football ground heated as the Andres Bonifacio College footballers set an early back attack to score their first goal just 12 minutes of the first half. Kevin Carl Galindo player number five delivered the first goal of Dipolog, responded by an equal amount of determination to score their second goal was Ethan Lourd Uso Jamolod number 11 from the side. Zamboanga del Sur team, which was represented by the footballers of Margosatubig Regional Pilot School was caught off guard by the eagerness and intensity to win the match by Dipolog.
Early on the second half, the power of Dipolog team’s Captain Ball number 10 Zaijan Langam was evident when he successfully delivered a direct kick goal called upon a defensive foul against Zamboanga del Sur.
As the game continued, the showdown of prowess and supremacy in ball handling, connection inside the court, and the defensive play of both teams invigorated the spectators who were shouting and cheering for their teams. But Dipolog was unstoppable as they continued to connect and wowed the audience with another goal coming from Winsome Hirtz Gesulga Jr. #6 who shocked the opponents with his quick attack.
Zamboanga del Sur's hope of squeezing a goal then came to an end. There was no opportunity to get into the goal as Dipolog’s defense was skintight up to the last second of the game.
Dipolog team left Zamboanga del Sur scoreless at the end of the 50 minutes play and the team advanced to the Palarong Pambansa, representing Region IX in Cebu City come July, 2024.
