In a single elimination games participated by the six Quality Learning Circle (QuaLCi) , the Volleybelles from Qualci 4 emerged victorious in a seesaw battle against their QuaLCi 5 contender in a thrilling Volleyball Championship game for girls at the 2nd League of the Provincial Athletic Meet 2023, March 19.
“I am speechless,” said Coach Ivy Hemoroz of QuaLCi 4 when asked about her feelings of their win.
In the first set, both teams played safe with sure ball winner shots and good defense on both sides. They entertained the audience with their longest rallies, leaving QuaLCi 5 with a huge margin, ending the set with a score of 25-15.
In Game 1, QuaLCi 3 fought strong with a great display of skills making them as the first winner in the Bracket A.
Meanwhile, the third set was an intense battle, Qualci 3 committed several stepping violations. QuaLCi 5 initially led with a score of 26-25 and was declared winner when the referee stopped the game due to a confusing signal from the scorer.
However, due to some complaints and after a thorough examination of the scoring sheets, the referees agreed that there was still one serve needed to be done for a winner to have an edge of 2 points. As the game resumed, QuaLCi 5 proved their mettle, winning the final set with a score of 27-25 securing their spot in the championship game.
In Game 4, QuaLCi 4 swept the two sets against QuaLCi 1 and took the spot for the championship match for bracket B.
After the championship battle, QuaLCi 4 team was ecstatic with their hard-earned victory, while the QuaLCi 5 team took their defeat with grace and sportsmanship earning them the silver and Qualci 3 ended as bronze medalists
