In its second year, the model reading program of DepEd ROIX, known as the Zeal for Progress in Reading (ZPR), included the Madrassah Education Program (MEP) and Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED) and launched a new mechanism to evaluate and monitor the reading programs of schools division offices (SDOs).
Through a regional memorandum dated March 16, 2023, the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) declared the winners of the Regional Search for Most Effective Implementers of the ZPR Year 2 after three months of validation of the implementation of the reading programs.
Under the new rubrics, the SDOs reading programs were assessed using the criteria: percentage of schools effectively implemented the reading programs; percentage of teachers and stakeholders capacitated on reading and other literacy interventions; percentage of volunteer work and support from stakeholders generated; quality of assessment, monitoring; and evaluation undertaken, and policies issued to support reading programs in schools. SDOs were evaluated using the gold, silver, and bronze levels of implementation.
Zamboanga Sibugay was the sole division which reached the Gold Implementer award, while SDOs Dapitan City, Zamboanga City, and Zamboanga del Norte gained Silver Implementers. SDOs Dipolog City and Zamboanga del Sur clinched the Bronze Implementers.
Meanwhile, the school category included the regular elementary and secondary levels and IPED and MEP for inclusive education.
For SDO Dapitan City, in a particular order, Ilaya Elementary School, Sulangon Elementary School, and Taguilon Elementary School topped the regular elementary school level. Ilaya National High School, Talisay Integrated School, and Baylimango National High School bagged 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places for the secondary level. At the same time, Masidlakon Elementary School placed first in the IPED Program.
SDO Dipolog City, Miputak Central School, Punta Central School, and Sicayab Elementary School took the top three spots at the elementary level. In contrast, Miputak National High School, Cogon National High School, and Alberto Q. Ubay Memorial Agro-tech Science High School won the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places for the secondary level. Pamansalan Elementary School clinched first for the IPED Program.
For SDO Isabela City, Cabunbata Elementary School, Calvario Elementary School, and Menzi Elementary School finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the elementary level. Kumalarang National High School, Isabela City National High School, and Baluno National High School reaped the top three awards for the secondary level. Meanwhile, Ustadz Wahab Akbar Elementary School topped the IPED Program, and Isabela East Central Elementary School notched the MEP.
For SDO Pagadian City, Pagadian City Pilot School and Balangasan Central Elementary School placed first and second, respectively. While Tawagan Sur National High School and Zamboanga del Sur National High School – Junior High School aced the awards for the secondary level.
For SDO Zamboanga City, Tugbungan Elementary School, Ayala Central SPED School, and San Jose Gusu Elementary School triumphed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, respectively, for the elementary level. Ayala National High School and Zamboanga City National High School secured the 1st and 2nd ranks for the secondary level.
For SDO Zamboanga del Norte, Sindangan Pilot Demonstration School, Linay Central Elementary School, and Siocon Central Elementary School got 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places for the elementary level. Gutalac National High School, Palandok National High School, and Polanco National High School set the records for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places for secondary. Also, Mandih Central Elementary School and Malayal Community School clinched the IPED Program, Osukan Elementary School won the MEP.
For SDO Zamboanga del Sur, Luy-a Elementary School, Isidro Oporto Elementary School, and Sang-an Elementary School placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for the elementary level. Potenciano Solon Bandolon Memorial National High School, Kumalarang National High School, and Aurora National High School won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. While Bulawan Elementary School and Tapodoc Elementary School settled 1st place for IPED and MEP, respectively.
For SDO Zamboanga Sibugay, Sagay Elementary School, Kauswagan Elementary School, and Kulambugan Elementary School pulled off 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places for elementary level. San Isidro National High School, Laih Batu National High School, and Imelda National High School finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ranks for the secondary level. While Palinta National High School and Tigpalay Elementary School aced the IPED and MEP.
The awarding will be done through the regular REMANCOM and PASIDUNGOG 2023. The Zeal for Progress in Reading Program is part of the RAPID Approach to learning recovery of ROIX, which aims to close the learning losses and gaps and reach the Moving Towards Mastery level by SY 2024-2025.
