Chemistry development and trust building paid off, the Zamboanga City Division duo erected an insurmountable lead and slammed the doors shut against the Zamboanga Del Norte pair, 12-3, in the bocce mixed doubles category gold medal game during the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletics Association 2024 at Avalokitesvara School, Tetuan, Zamboanga City on April 23.
Throughout the game, Zambo City’s Rommel Ferrer Jr. and Aiesa Barrera fired from all cylinders to start the game on fire with an 8-1 score in the first five frames.
Barrera, a one-time Palarong Pambansa player in 2018, had her bocce journey placed on hold since her father suffered a stroke but came back this year stronger and more driven at the expense of the Zanorte tandem which only tallied two more points for the rest of the game, 8-3.
At the closing end of the game, Ferrer took the limelight to chalk straight four points to punch a ticket to the national level and fended off any Zanorte comeback.
Evangeline Anohada, ZCD coach, hopes her pair will be intact and solid for the next higher meet.
