CONNECTING DOTS Guimputlan IS launches G-GLITCH to bridge Reading Gaps among Grade 10 students

To fill in the gaps between the reading level and the reading standards among the exiting grade of Junior High school, Guimputlan Integrated School pushed forward the Gamified and Graduated Literacy Intervention through Technology-assisted Challenging and Honing (G-GLITCH) Approach, an innovative reading intervention program targeting Grade 10 learners to undergo every afternoon a one to four sets of sessions, on November 18.

This initiative utilized the Language Enhance Through Reading Assessment (LETRA) results in identifying the participants and in crafting tailored remediation plans for the students.

Moreover, it made use of ladderized strategies which includes technology-assisted gamification, gradual release of independence, progressive skill development, reward system, assessments and feedbacking, that specifically target learners’ reading motivation, accuracy, fluency, and comprehension in synergy with the school’s advocacy and commitment to make every learner a read at his or her grade level.

“This activity maximizes learners’ exposure to digital tools providing them an avenue to harness their skills in reading, and enjoy the integration of technology-based games, making their learning filled with fun and excitement,” asserted Cj Boy F. Eltagonde, one of the program proponents.

Eltagonde also acknowledged the significant involvement of all the brains exerting much effort in the realization of the said program.

The undertaking garnered positive feedback from the participants, including Clyze Dennielle S. Regañon, a Grade 10 student, who expressed her gratitude to the organizers for crafting useful exercises such as the G-GLITCH, preparing them for the challenges waiting as they step forward in their academic pursuits.

“We learned a lot from the exciting activities conducted. What excites me more is seeing struggling readers practice their reading skills, and I am hoping that the next batch of students will experience the same,” shared Regañon.

Guimputlan IS led by Mrs. Mirason S. Omilig conveyed its strong commitment to continuously propel innovative actions together with its stakeholders for the benefit of the learners and the community.
