A star in the making, Karlene Dela Cruz of Margosatubig District proved her dominance in rhythmic gymnastics after sweeping six gold medals in the Provincial Meet 2025 held at Capitol Gymnasium, Pagadian City.
Facing tough competition from gymnasts representing QUALC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, Dela Cruz showcased her skill, grace, and discipline, securing victories in hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon, and the all-around category. Her outstanding performance also earned her the Individual All-Around champion in the secondary level, reaffirming her status as the province’s top rhythmic gymnast.
A three-time Palarong Pambansa player, Dela Cruz has dedicated one year of daily training after class to perfecting her craft. Her hard work and determination were evident in her flawless routines, impressing not only the judges but also her coach, Charmaine Villahermosa.
“This victory means a lot to me. I’ve worked hard for this, and I’m excited to represent my district in the regional meet,” said Dela Cruz.
“I am very proud of Karlene’s performance. Her artistry and execution were impeccable. It was thrilling and surprising to see her perfectly execute all the apparatus difficulty and body elements with such grace and precision,” said coach Villahermosa.
With her provincial triumph, Dela Cruz now sets her sights on the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA) Meet 2025, which will be held in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte. As she continues her rigorous training, she remains a strong contender for another golden campaign, with hopes of making it to the Palarong Pambansa once again.
