Dr. Marivic B. Tolitol, Palarong Pambansa Head Secretariat, brings up the essence of sports in instilling good values an athlete must possess during the ZPRAA Meet’s Solidarity Meeting

Sports has the power to bring together, to bridge divides and to promote understanding and respect.”

This statement was stressed by Dr. Marivic B. Tolitol, Supervising Education Program Specialist, OIC, Palarong Pambansa Secretariat when she delivered her message during the Solidarity Meeting on April 23, 2023 at Provincial Government Complex, Dao, Pagadian City, Province of Zamboanga del Sur with its theme, “Sports for Peace.”

Dr. Tolitol as the Head Secretariat, together with her technical assistant, Efraim Daliwan, was driven by the goal in monitoring regional meets in the country to scout for the athletes who will compete for the 13th ASEAN Sports Game in Vietnam slated mid-August, this year.

Swimming, Badminton, Athletics and Basketball are to be competed in the said event.

She described “Solidarity” as the opening salvo in the regional event in which it gives the opportunity to gather together with the tournament directors, tournament managers, technical officials and coaches to discuss and agree about the technical guidelines and ground rules.

Regional qualifying meet, as she cited, is the opportunity to showcase the skills and abilities to push students to do heights and to demonstrate the values of dedication, perseverance and excellence.

She further emphasized that aside from winning, the true spirit of sports must lie in the effort and camaraderie.
