In today’s fast-paced digital age, the integration of technology into education is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Recognizing this, the Division of Zamboanga del Norte, under the dynamic leadership of SDS Roy C. Tuballa, has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative – Project OTUC or One Unit Television per Classroom.
This flagship program aims to enhance the teaching and learning process by providing one television unit per classroom to the 759 schools in the division. This project aligns seamlessly with DepEd’s MATATAG program, further solidifying its commitment to fortifying education through technology.
One of the schools at the forefront of this transformative journey is Sirawai National High School (SirNaHigh) with the leadership of the principal, Mr.Alfie M.Ontong who now proudly boasts a TV set in every classroom, a significant stride towards creating a more engaging and interactive learning environment.
Mrs. Rowena Moras, a veteran science teacher at Sirawai NHS, shares her excitement about the project.
“The introduction of television units in our classrooms has opened up a world of possibilities. It allows us to utilize multimedia resources to make lessons more engaging and interactive. It’s not just about upgrading our teaching strategies; it’s about enriching our students’ learning experiences,” she shared in an interview.
Metushiela Gapo, a Grade 11 student, expresses her enthusiasm, “Learning with the help of television makes lessons more interesting. It’s like the world is coming to our classroom. It’s not just about reading and writing anymore; we can now see and hear what we’re learning about. It makes learning more fun and real,” Metushiela said.
The impact of Project OTUC extends beyond the four walls of the classroom. It’s about building a community that embraces technological advancements in learning, fostering an environment that inspires curiosity, and nurturing a generation of learners who are ready to thrive in the digital age.
Further, project OTUC is more than just a program; it’s a testament to the power of technology in revolutionizing education. It’s a story of a community coming together to create a better learning environment for its students.
