Impressions are marks produced by pressure. May I share my impressions of this orientation and training using the A-R-A-L letters.
A for Acceptance. As soon as we received the division memo
Participants to this orientation and training we did go
To the hotel as the mentioned venue
We only find out we are here in a certain hall.
R for Resilience. Responding to the call of times we moved
From our accommodation to the other
Asking why and how we were from each other that apart
Respectfully followed instructions here and there
A for Acceptance. Always provision of basic training needs are expected
But reality bites when food services were delayed
And we had to manage with the crowded space we occupied
The kind only DepEd teachers could persevere with
L for Love. Love for reading and ARAL Tutees were inculcated
We were equipped with principles and pedagogies
For the ARAL Program goal to be reached
Tutor-Tutees’ bond must be first established
Essentially, what just transpired during this activity is only a reflection of how hunger and poverty affect the complexities of the reading world. Because in the real classroom setting, it is both a challenge and opportunity to be able to teach a hungry child. How then can we tutor about the basic reading skills when the basic needs of the tutees such as food and nutrition are not addressed yet?
As Batch 1 participants may the four P’s of ARAL Program be maximized—Profiling, Placement, Pathways, and Pedagogies for the next batch of this training to remain inspired, empowered and stay relevant amidst the political turmoil, occurrence of natural calamities and corruption in our bureaucratic government.
And since it’s World Teachers’ Day today, let us celebrate learning! May we be reminded that we were once taught how to read. Could you still recall the person who taught you how? We did not just become teachers overnight. As we continue to deal with the deliverables of the ARAL Program, may we all teach at the right level in order for our tutees to use them meaningfully.
After eight weeks, may they receive the right key to be able to unlock the gateway of the world of words. Together we can reach the goal of basically decoding with automaticity. However, it should not end there! Because we believe that a reader today is a better leader and follower tomorrow.
After all, the scripture says in Matthew 4:4, “Jesus answered, it is written man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” May God use our mouths so that His word could reach his beloved children. Thank you, Zamboanga del Norte Division, Region IX for the opportunity to become ARAL Tutors, the country needed most. Let us then become the teachers we wanted to have.
Mabuhay ang mga ulirang Guro ng Pilipinas! Happy World Teachers’ Day 2025 Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning Tutors!
