Securing the first spot in the Girls 26-30, 50 LC Meter Backstroke for the Intellectual Disability Category, 26-year-old Jonrech R. Abapo from Zamboanga Del Norte showcased her swimming skills with a finals time of 1:05.50, held at the Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex on April 23, 2024. Abapo's victory not only underscores her individual talent, but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the region. 

Abapo stood out among her swimming contenders as the only one with a recorded seed time of 1:01.00, while the rest were listed without a seed time, indicating that they were disqualified during the event. This remarkable move not only shows Abapo's rigid preparation,but also highlights her consistency and resilience in the face of challenges. Despite the absence of seed times for her competitors, Abapo maintained her focus and composure, demonstrating true sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Dressed in sleek black swimming gear, Abapo executed impressive backstroke maneuvers with vigor, leaving everyone in the swimming arena filled with astonishment. Her flawless technique and determination captivated the audience, earning her admiration and respect from fellow swimmers and spectators alike. 

This event featured only four divisions: Zamboanga Del Sur, Zamboanga Del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Zamboanga City. As the competition continues to grow in scale and significance, it serves as a reminder of the crucial importance of ensuring the safety of these diverse swimming learners.
